Tulips in a Pitcher – Original Watercolor Still Life, J. Mayer 1948
Details
A cheerful original watercolor still life of parrot and garden tulips in coral, rose, lilac and white, arranged in a pale celadon pitcher. Rich red drapery, a fallen petal and a deep charcoal background make the blooms glow. Crisp white highlights bring out the sheen on the pitcher and petals.
Signed J. Mayer and dated 1948, lower right. Watercolor on paper, framed under glass in a warm oak frame.
Styling: A sweet piece for a kitchen, breakfast nook, bedroom or entry. It pairs well with oak and warm wood furniture, a stoneware pitcher of fresh flowers, or a cottage-style plate rack. Lovely in spring and all year.
Measurements: 14.5" W x 18" H
