Antique Quarter Sawn Oak Buffet Sideboard
Details
This antique oak buffet is a stunning piece from the early 1900s. It is made of quarter sawn oak, a special way of cutting wood that shows off a bold tiger-stripe grain. Craftsmen used this cut in the golden age of American oak furniture, and it is prized by collectors today.
The buffet has three drawers and shelves behind the doors, so there is plenty of storage. The top has been restored — the old finish was removed and the wood was sealed with shellac, with no stain, so the natural beauty of the oak shines through. The drawers are original to the piece. One drawer has some staining inside, and the drawers slide okay, just as you would expect from a piece this age.
Use it as a dining room sideboard, an entryway piece, or a beautiful bar stand for glasses and bottles.
