A one-of-a-kind mixed media painting of rugged coastal cliffs and a sheltered cove. The artist layered torn and crumpled paper with thick, gritty paint to build real texture, so the rocks look carved and weathered. Warm ochre, rust and sandstone tones meet slate blue water and sky. Look closely and you'll find a fragment of old printed text ("Baroque…") worked into the surface.
Signed L. Wilkinson, lower left. Framed in a simple gilt frame.
